Volunteer Your Time

Be a Hero: Join In Our Lifesaving Work!

Note: our office is closed to visitors due to COVID-19 in an effort to protect our staff. We can't wait to open back up to volunteers as soon as it's safe! Please check back in later, or fill out the interest form on this page to let us know you'd like to help when you can.

You can contribute your time and talent to improve the health of pre-term and ill infants while peeking behind the scenes of the world's largest non-profit milk bank. We love our community volunteers, and spend lots of time training and investing in them. We're best suited for volunteers who can commit to regular recurring visits -- weekly, biweekly, or monthly during our business day (9am-5pm).

Typical opportunities

  • Lab: Scrub in and process milk in our lab and label bottles of life-saving donor milk. You'll work in groups of three to four people, mixing and pouring donated milk for pasteurization. Lab shifts are two hours each on Tuesday through Friday.

  • Administrative: Help with office projects such as filing, mailings, event prep and supporting the Donor Mom Team. Administrative shifts are one to four hours each on Monday through Friday. Non-mobile babies are welcome.
  • Community Outreach: Attend local events and represent us at our exhibit table.

We provide orientation, training and offer a flexible and friendly working environment. To schedule your next shifts, please fill out the form to the right, send an email to Diana or call 512-710-3933.

Can't commit to regular volunteering?

  • Be an ambassador: Spread the word about donating milk and milk banking! Our number one need is always for new milk donors. Each time you tell a new or expecting mom that they can save lives by pumping 100 extra ounces or more, you help us keep our lab staff busy and our partner hospitals full of donor human milk for babies in need.
  • Join a committee: We have multiple committees, each with their own objectives and meeting schedules. See if there's a good fit for you.
